Aimesh node keeps disconnecting

I was able to convert two TM-AC1900 routers into AC68U with the Asus AiMesh firmware (384_20308). after changing the 5G channel to 61 I managed to get some stable connections but every now and then the node just disconnects and never connects back. -65dB to -73dB to the main router, a wired connection is not possible.
